The 1988 CR500R was a carry-over of the 1987 machine with fresh graphics, keeping the disc brakes at both ends, flat-slide carburettor and detachable rear subframe. Its hard-hitting liquid-cooled 491 cc engine still made it one of the most demanding open-class motocross bikes of its time.
