The 1992 CR500R was Honda's open-class two-stroke motocrosser in its last year before development stopped, when the AMA dropped the 500 class after 1993. It kept the water-cooled 491 cc single, upside-down Showa fork and the head redesign from 1989 that softened the hit and eased kick-starting. For 1992 it wore Nuclear Red and Shasta White with a white tank and air box cover, a Ross White frame and a detachable rear subframe.
