In the 2000s HM continued to build the CRE 125 from the aluminium-framed Honda CR125R, adding road lighting, a homologated exhaust and an 18-inch rear wheel so it could be registered for enduro use in Italy. It kept the CR's liquid-cooled 124 cc two-stroke and six-speed gearbox, with a 46 mm Kayaba upside-down fork. Four-stroke CRE F models took over from 2007, and for a few years only the 50 cc CRE stayed in the range.
