For 2017 HRC evolved the CRF450 Rally from the 2016 bike that had led the Dakar, keeping the fuel-injected 450 single in an aluminium twin-tube frame with a carbon sub-frame and long-travel Showa suspension. Joan Barreda, Paulo Goncalves, Michael Metge and Kevin Benavides formed the Monster Energy-backed factory line-up; Ricky Brabec won a stage but did not finish.
