The CRF450L was Honda's attempt to put a genuine CRF450R-derived competition engine and aluminium twin-spar chassis on the road legally. Compared with the motocrosser it gained a six-speed gearbox, extra crank inertia for tractability, a catalytic converter and quieter twin mufflers, LED lights, a lithium-ion battery, a titanium fuel tank and a radiator fan. The result is a tall, light, premium dual-sport aimed at riders who link trails together on public roads.
