The CRM250AR (MD32) was the only production bike to use Honda's Activated Radical (AR) combustion, which controls self-ignition of a very lean mixture to cut two-stroke emissions and fuel use. Honda claimed about 32% better steady-speed economy and roughly half the HC emissions of the CRM250R, along with stronger low-down pull. Frame and engine are not interchangeable with the MKIII, and it was the last CRM250 before Honda moved to four-strokes.
