The CX650E arrived for 1983 with a bored and stroked 673 cc version of the water-cooled, shaft-drive V-twin and bigger carburettors, giving noticeably stronger low and mid-range pull. It kept the sporty bikini fairing, Pro-Link rear suspension and twin front discs of the 500 range. Road testers liked its economy, comfort and easy maintenance but found the rear suspension struggled on bumpy bends.
