The 40th Anniversary Edition celebrated four decades of the Gold Wing with special badges on the fairing, trunk lid and key fob and an embossed backrest emblem. It came in black, light silver or a two-tone candy red and black with a silver band and blacked-out wheels, frame, fork and exhausts. It also introduced a layered fairing to cut buffeting, leg warmers and a waterproof perforated seat cover; mechanically it was the regular GL1800.
