The 1989 NSR125R was the first year of the faired NSR, Honda Italia's replacement for the NS125R. Shown at the Bologna show in late 1988 and on sale from early 1989, it shared its engine and chassis with the naked NSR125F but added a full fairing, six-spoke Grimeca wheels and a slightly longer final drive. It quickly became a benchmark Italian-built two-stroke learner sportbike.
