The 1992 NSR125SP was a limited Sport Production version of the NSR125R, developed from the 1991 SP and built in a run of about 600 bikes, all finished in Rothmans Honda race colours. Compared with the standard road bike it had a revised cylinder and head, a shorter sixth gear and a front fork with adjustable preload, and it was raced in Italy's under-21 Sport Production series, winning the title.
