From 1996 final assembly of the Dominator moved from Japan to Honda's Atessa factory in Italy, creating the RD08 version. The move lowered the retail price, though owners later reported that frames and tanks on Italian bikes were less resistant to corrosion. Mechanically it was the same 644 cc single and chassis as before.
