The RVF750R, or RC45, replaced the RC30 as Honda's World Superbike homologation model. It kept the V4, gear-driven cams and single-sided swingarm idea but shared no parts with its predecessor, and moved to PGM-FI fuel injection with a new 72 x 46 mm engine. On the road it felt little faster than the RC30, but once Honda sorted its rear traction it won at Suzuka and in World Superbike.
