The Switchblade was one of three VT1300-based customs that Honda R&D Americas designers built in about three months on a small budget, and it had to remain a running bike. Designer Edward Birtulescu turned the Sabre into a pro-drag style cruiser with Formula 1 and MotoGP influences: carbon-fibre bodywork and seat, carbon wheels (21-inch front, 18-inch rear), a single-sided swingarm and a chain conversion in place of the shaft. It also carried a GPS lap timer and data logger.
