The 2009 ST1300 Pan European was carried over without mechanical updates, by now a well-proven design. Compared with the ST1100 it replaced, its larger V4 offered roughly a fifth more power, a shorter engine thanks to chain cam drive, and a shorter wheelbase in an aluminium frame, giving it a sportier feel for a big tourer.
