The VF1000R was Honda's limited-production, race-bred version of the VF1000, introduced in Europe in March 1984 to contest production racing. Compared with the F it had gear-driven camshafts, more power, a full race-style fairing and higher-spec suspension and brakes, but it was heavy and expensive, which limited its success.
