The late-1990s Magna was little changed from the 1994 relaunch: VFR-based 748 cc V-four, five-speed gearbox, chain final drive and the trademark stacked megaphone pipes. Road tests praised the engine and the way it handled twisty roads for a cruiser, while criticising the soft seat, wind exposure, tall gearing and a midrange flat spot in the carburation.
