Launched for 1982 alongside the Magna, the Sabre was the sport-touring version of Honda's new liquid-cooled 90-degree V45 V-four, the first such engine in a production motorcycle. It combined shaft drive and a six-speed box with Pro-Link rear suspension, an anti-dive fork and an LCD instrument panel. Testers loved the smooth, strong engine but found the hydraulic clutch weak and fuel economy only modest.
