For 1987 Honda reworked the VFR400R as the NC24. Its main novelty was the single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm taken from the RVF750 endurance racers. The hydraulic clutch gave way to a cable, the carburettors grew to 32 mm and torque rose slightly. The engine kept the 180-degree crank, and the bike became a popular grey import in the UK.
