The 2001 VFR800Fi was the last of the gear-driven-cam VFRs, using a detuned, fuel-injected V4 derived from the RC45 race homologation bike. Updates in 2000 had added a catalytic converter with oxygen sensors and closed-loop injection, and in Europe an immobiliser. It remained a well-balanced sports tourer with Honda's linked brakes and single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm.
