The late-1990s VT600C kept its formula of a 583 cc twin-plug, three-valve V-twin with finned cylinders, an aluminium radiator and a coolant-heated carburettor set-up, paired with a wide-ratio four-speed box and chain drive. Maintenance-free electronic ignition and automatic cam-chain tensioners kept running costs low, and the twin exhausts gave it a deeper note. These were the last years before Honda switched the engine to a single carburettor.
