The 2001 update was the biggest revision of Honda's sporting V-twin since its 1997 launch: a larger 19-litre tank answered the main complaint about range, the clip-ons were raised slightly for a less tiring crouch, and a new LCD dash added a fuel gauge, temperature readout, twin trips and a clock. Black wheels, smaller indicators, revised fork internals and a standard HISS immobiliser rounded it off. Underneath it was still the torquey 996 cc carburetted twin in an aluminium twin-spar frame, aimed at fast road riding rather than the track.
