The 1999-2000 VTR250 continued the carburetted naked roadster largely unchanged, with colour updates. It remained a light, slim learner-friendly bike with a trellis frame and a smooth but rev-hungry 249 cc V-twin, five-speed gearbox and single front disc. Reviewers praised its neutral handling and criticised the soft, non-adjustable suspension and fixed levers.
