The 2003 Varadero was a substantial revision: carburettors gave way to PGM-FI fuel injection with catalytic converters, a six-speed gearbox replaced the five-speed, and the bodywork and instrument panel were restyled with a slimmer look. Suspension was also improved, though the bike grew heavier and wider than the original.
