The 1976-1977 XL125 kept the simple OHC single and drum-braked trail chassis, but Honda revised the engine with a two-piece cylinder head and gave the bike an upswept exhaust. The tachometer was dropped. It remained a cheap, reliable and economical commuter-trail bike with modest performance.
