The XL 125R was the mid-1980s version of Honda's long-running 124 cc four-stroke trail bike, a light single-cylinder dual-sport for road and dirt use. It used an air-cooled overhead-cam single with a six-speed gearbox, a 21-inch front wheel and drum brakes at both ends. It was a simple, cheap learner and commuter that could also handle easy trails.
