The 1980-1981 XL125S continued the electronic-ignition SOHC single with an aluminium skid plate, a leading-axle fork, lay-down rear shocks and universal-tread tyres for mixed road and trail use. Flexible indicator stalks, large lights, mirrors and a bigger tank kept it road-legal and practical, and CycleChaos notes a separate round speedometer from 1980.
