Introduced for 1973, the XL175 was Honda's mid-size four-stroke trail bike, slotting between the XL125 and XL250. Its 173 cc overhead-cam single pulled well low down and was very economical, with a five-speed gearbox, 21-inch front wheel and drum brakes. Road testers found it a good small road bike but less capable off-road than two-stroke rivals.
