The mid-1970s XL250 continued the formula of the original: a chain-driven single-cam, four-valve 248 cc single in a semi double-cradle frame with twin rear shocks and drum brakes. It revved past 8000 rpm and topped out just over 80 mph, and its long production life made it one of the most familiar trail bikes of the decade.
