The 1986 XL600LM carried on unchanged in substance from the 1985 bike: a rally-replica trail bike built around the air-cooled RFVC 591 cc single, with electric plus kick starting, a 28-litre tank, twin-headlamp fairing and Pro-Link rear end. It suited long-distance touring on dirt and tar more than hard off-road riding, given its weight of almost 190 kg fuelled.
