The 1986 XL600R was the kick-start, 12-litre-tank dual-sport version of Honda's RFVC 589 cc single. The US bike came in Shasta White with blue, with a red engine, gold wheels and twin exhaust headers; paint and graphics were the main changes for the year. Contemporary testers saw it as about 70 percent road and 30 percent dirt: strong engine and good economy, but soft suspension and road-biased tyres for serious off-road work.
