For 1989 the Transalp kept its fairing, frame and drum rear brake, while power was quoted at 55 hp rather than the earlier 50 hp. Wikipedia says this was also the year the bike reached the US market. It remained a torquey, comfortable dual-purpose tourer whose weak points were luggage space and vibration at motorway speeds.
