Launched in 1983, the XLV750R (RD01) was Honda's first big V-twin dual-purpose bike and a forerunner of the Transalp and Africa Twin. Its air/oil-cooled 45° twin, shaft drive and Paris-Dakar-inspired styling made it a fast, good-looking road bike, though its weight limited it off-road. The launch D model wore HRC blue, white and red with a red engine, and a 500-unit limited edition was sold in Japan.
