For 1981 Honda offered the XR200 in two forms: the basic model with twin shocks, steel tank and red frame, and the new XR200R with a black engine, plastic tank and Pro-Link single-shock rear end on a sturdier frame. Both shared the 195 cc two-valve, six-speed engine and drum brakes, and both came in Tahitian Red.
