For the 2007 model year (on sale December 2006) the XR230 gained a revised front visor, a brighter multi-reflector headlight and CRF-style tank-shroud graphics, with a new Ross White colour on black rims alongside Extreme Red. The air-cooled 223 cc engine, chassis and dimensions were unchanged. In February 2008 it was updated again for Japan's tighter emissions rules, adding catalysts and gold rims.
