The 1981 XR250R was Honda's mid-size four-stroke enduro, built largely along the lines of the bigger XR500 and sharing its suspension layout. Its four-valve SOHC single gave smooth, usable torque, and the bike had Pro-Link rear suspension, a six-speed gearbox, CD ignition, aluminium rims, a twin-port exhaust and an automatic decompressor to help starting.
