For 1982 the XR250R kept its XR500-derived chassis and four-valve single, and Honda refined it further. It got a six-speed gearbox, a reworked clutch, more ground clearance with higher footpegs, a power-chamber twin-port exhaust and a black engine finish, while keeping the CD ignition and the automatic decompressor.
