The 1996 XR250R was a ground-up redesign of Honda's quarter-litre trail bike. It got a new, lighter frame that doubles as the oil tank for a new dry-sump engine, plus a new carburettor, twin exhaust, new suspension, brakes and a revised kick-start with a manual decompressor. It was aimed at beginners and casual trail riders who wanted an easy, tough four-stroke.
