The 501e was part of a revised Husaberg range with a new chromoly double-cradle frame, slimmer bodywork and a closed-cartridge WP fork. The engine got lighter die-cast cases, two oil pumps and a lighter clutch. Electric start was standard, with a kickstarter offered as an accessory.
