The KL 250 was Kawasaki's first dual-purpose motorcycle, a lightweight 246 cc four-stroke single introduced in early 1978. It drew on Honda's SL/XL 250 concept and reused parts from the KZ200 road single. A period road test found the suspension capable off-road, but the gearing high and the ground clearance limited.
