The Z1000 is a 'super naked' roadster built around a DOHC inline-four derived from the Ninja ZX-9R, with the engine used as a stressed member in the frame. It was pitched as a power-focused, agile street bike with no sportbike fairing, a bikini cowl and dual headlights. The 2003 bike was a bored-out ZX-9R engine in a steel chassis, aimed at back-road fun.
