The LTD was the touring-styled variant of the 1980 Z550 family, with air-adjustable forks, a wider rear tyre on a 16-inch wheel and cast-aluminium wheels. Its one-colour paint, two-into-one exhaust and clutch-interlock starting were its distinguishing traits. It was seen as a crisp-handling middleweight that sat below the GP550 in the range.
