The 2000 ZX-12R was Kawasaki's answer to the Suzuki Hayabusa and Honda Blackbird in the race for the fastest production bike. It used a new aluminium monocoque chassis around a 1199 cc inline-four with a strong top-end. It was a speed-focused machine aimed at experienced riders.
