The 2006 ZX-6R kept the 636 cc transverse four and aluminium perimeter frame of the 2005 bike, with fully adjustable Showa suspension. Changes were limited to small suspension tweaks and new colours. It remained the road-going 636 alongside the 599 cc ZX-6RR.
