The R is the off-road-focused flagship of the 2019-2020 1290 Super Adventure range, based on the 1301 cc V-twin from the 1290 Super Duke R. It has fully adjustable 220 mm WP suspension, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, Brembo brakes and Bosch ABS with an off-road mode. Compared with the S it has more ground clearance, a taller seat and a shorter windscreen.
