The 2009 300 EXC-E carried on the electric-start two-stroke formula, with a 12.8:1 compression ratio and the same chassis as the kick-start 300 EXC. The reviewer found the engine pulls cleanly from low revs but runs out of breath at the top, and rated the handling and light weight highly. The rear brake and high fuel use were the main criticisms, and the bike was judged good value for its premium over the kick-start model.
