The MD 250 grew from the 125 RS racer into a light, pointless-ignition 250 two-stroke road bike. It lacked the refinements of rivals such as Yamaha's RD 250 and sold poorly. In 1978 a water-cooled WK version added disc brakes and cast wheels, and about 50 Cup racers for young riders followed in 1981.
