The 2010 Brutale 990R was a near-total redesign of the naked Brutale, with a claimed 85 percent of parts new. It used a 998 cc four with the longer-stroke 1078-type crank and a balance shaft, a more compact trellis frame, longer swingarm, new wheels, and updated headlight, dash and tail, plus traction control. It sits below the 1090RR, lacking that model's slipper clutch.
