MZ, short for Motorradwerk Zschopau, was the East German maker that grew out of the DKW factory in Zschopau and built the ES, TS and ETZ two-stroke models that were sold across the Eastern Bloc and exported to the West. After German reunification the firm was sold and relaunched as MuZ in the 1990s with the Skorpion, the Baghira and the Saxon, using bought-in Japanese and Austrian engines, before it closed in 2008.
