In 1930 Norton fielded a redesigned overhead-camshaft 500 single for the Senior TT, but the machine was judged too new and did not win that year. It used a sturdy cradle frame, coil valve springs and a dry-sump oiling system, setting the pattern for the successful racers of the 1930s.
