The fuel-injected X8 400 was the top of the X8 range and was billed by Piaggio as the quickest scooter in its class. A tester called the 400 class a good middle ground between heavy maxi scooters and weak 250s, with strong open-road pace, agile town handling and good brakes. Criticisms were choppy-road suspension and shallow storage that will not take a full-face helmet.
